Noctem is a collage project in which public domain masterpieces from the Met Collection were gathered and organized into a cohesive theme. The artworks were presented in a contemporary format, with elements of surrealism and the Frutiger Aero movement incorporated to highlight how pieces from different times and eras can harmoniously coexist within a single frame.
Inspired by the Latin phrase “Noctem, Horrendam clara sidera erit” (it will be an awful night with bright stars), the project encapsulates a wild night where all the famous figures from these masterpiece paintings are envisioned to harmoniously coexist in a single setting, such as a pool party.
This concept introduces a contemporary perspective to the art, reimagining these iconic figures as interacting in a vibrant and imaginative way.
Each famous figure from the masterpieces was meticulously cut and arranged seamlessly. By employing principles of perspective, the composition creates an aesthetically pleasing visual experience, enhancing the beauty of the artworks.
