Cephalopo

Type Design, Typographic Art

Influenced by the mysterious and astonishing of Octopus’s tentacles one of my beloved biormophic and organic elements in the wild, Cephalopo Type is a unique fonts and perfect for display, logo design, and creative projects.

Creative Brief

Cephalopo Type is a unique typeface inspired by the tentacle-like shapes of the creatures in Sakarit’s fictional world, “The Seven Seas.” This typeface plays a crucial role in building the narrative of the story. Tentacles are a recurring theme in my artwork, and I’ve incorporated them into Cephalopo Type to add a whimsical and elusive quality.

Approach

This typeface was constructed by hand-drawing and then vectorizing it in Illustrator. Eyeballs, one of my signature touches, were added to bring humor and whimsy, enhancing the overall design. Gen-AI was used to visualize how the typeface could be applied to real-world physical objects, but layers were meticulously placed, making the process time-intensive.

Impact

While some adjustments may be needed for optimal legibility, Cephalopo Type is well-suited for display and apparel use due to its intricate and whimsical design. Additionally, the 3D iterations could potentially be applied to sculptures or other formats, enhancing the underworld theme’s narrative.
Tools & Skills

The collection below showcases the original iterations and the collages combined with the use of generative AI. While AI was utilized, each layer of the collage required significant time and effort to refine, emphasizing the thoughtful and meticulous process behind exploring how this typeface could potentially be applied to various materials in physical objects.
