UNIvers II

Contributed 60 unique mixed-media works to mail art projects curated by artists Varsha Nair (UK/India) and Karla Sachse (Germany). Participants’ work gathered in portfolios, exhibited/conducted through postal service in Berlin and Baroda in 2021 and donated to museums that collect mail art.

What is UNIvers II?

The first edition of UNIvers New in memorial of Guillermo Deisler‘s PEACEDREAM-PROJEKT of visual and experimental poetry is out. It has forty three contributions of younger and older, well-known and emerging artists from all over the world with various mindful responses to the first proposed theme uprooting – shifting – remapping. Its high intensity encourages us to go on.

The superabundance of words and images of our days is undoubtedly still swelling and present a new challenge for visual and experimental poetry. Perhaps it could bring to conciousness how violence, thoughtlessness, superficiality can be recognised, deliberated – chased out. Perhaps it could visualize how words relate to the conditions of our social, cultural, political, economical, ecological „worlds“ – and how they could be changed …

Requirements

Participants from around the world are invited to contribute their work to UNIvers II. However, there are specific conditions that apply to this project.

All experimental poetic treatments are appropriate as long they present works with an original character.
Please send one work consisting of 60 apparently similar pages – which of course must not be totally identical.
The maximum size is 15 x 21 cm.
All pages must be numbered and signed.
When 40 contributions have arrived the edition will be assembled in 60 handmade portfolios and each of the 40 participants gets an edition.
