Sakarit (pronounced: Sa-ka-rit) is a multidisciplinary maximalist designer and a Proxima Centauri enthusiast who focuses on Environmental Graphic Design. This field combines graphic design, videos, sculpture, interior design, and various other design disciplines to create visually engaging, informative, or aesthetic environments.
Sakarit’s collection of works focuses on the use of graphic elements and signage to communicate information. It also embraces the concept of “Gesamtkunstwerk,” influenced by Wagner’s idea of a “total work of art” or an “all-embracing art form.” This approach enhances the audience’s experience and reinforces the identity, branding, and aesthetics of a place.
Furthermore, as a maximalist, Sakarit often incorporates intricate and elaborate, multilayered objects into his works. As humorous as he is, his works are also very whimsical and enjoyable to look at.
As someone who has taken an unconventional path as a self-taught artist, designer, activist, and now a Pratt undergraduate, my design journey has been shaped by fortuitous events, unexpected turns, and blessed coincidences.
With over a decade of creative experience, I have developed a broad skill set through extensive pre-undergrad work experience, undergraduate studies, and various roles. My expertise includes creative visuals, marketing collateral, motion graphics, photography, gallery management, web design, and digital content production. I have collaborated with diverse teams, from fair trade garment cooperatives to marketing agencies, a women-led artist-run organization, bringing a wealth of experience to his work.
My passion for the arts, maximalism, architecture, innovation, technologies, and graphic design, combined with the influence of Giacomo Puccini’s music, motivated me to move to the US to complete a BFA at Pratt Institute and expand his graphic design knowledge. My aims are to integrate typography, sculpture, illustration, videomontages, animation, and interactive technologies to craft immersive and cohesive experiences within a space, creating Environmental Graphic Design as a “Gesamtkunstwerk” or “total work of art.”
I believe that “There’s a fine line between creativity and insanity, – crossing the line is sublimity.”
