RISE FROM WITHIN: 60th Anniversary Alumni Art Showcase
Come see more than 70 incredible works from more than 40 CCP alumni! This showcase celebrates the creativity and expressions of professional and nonprofessional artists from a variety of programs, including visual arts, music, theater, photography and beyond. Demonstrating the breadth of our talented alums throughout our 60-year history, this showcase highlights how art serves as an essential outlet for inspiration and innovation.
This reception will feature art installations across campus, performances, a keynote address and tabling by local Philadelphia Arts organizations.
60 Years of Rising: from the Heart of the City, 60 Years of Shaping Tomorrow
I’m so thrilled to share that my animation has been selected for the 60th Anniversary Alumni Art Showcase at the Community College of Philadelphia!
Honoring the college’s 60th milestone, “60 Years of Rising” is a dynamic visual exploration of the enduring spirit of both the city and the institution, bridging their rich legacy with the bright, diverse future we are building together.
The animation opens with the title, “60 Years of Rising: From the Heart of the City.” The letters of the word Philadelphia appear, intricately woven from the faces of students, faculty, and staff from all walks of life. From this human foundation, the iconic architecture of City Hall arises to anchor our civic roots. As the narrative unfolds through rhythmic, vivid illustration, campus buildings emerge alongside the words “60 Years of Shaping Tomorrow,” merging seamlessly into the city skyline. Set to a bright, hopeful bossa nova soundtrack, the piece embraces our underdog spirit, celebrating our persistence, our history of empowerment, and a future as dynamic as the people who call this city home.
Note: Originally, I planned to use “Gonna Fly Now” by Bill Conti (from the movie Rocky) because of its iconic connection to Philadelphia’s resilience and the grit of CCP students. Due to public screening rights and the time it takes to secure clearances, I went in a different musical direction instead.
